Soap and Glory Hand Food

First things first: this hand cream smells AMAZING!

The bottle says ‘The most astonishing handcream ever?’ and every time I use it I find myself answering the bottle, saying “YES!”! Mad? Maybe a little, but it just shows how good this hand cream really is. It last ages on your hands, it’s not greasy at all and it sinks in really quickly.

I have very chapped, dry hands and so I was worried that it would sting or bring them out in a bit of a rash because it is so scented, but it doesn’t at all. The ingredients include shea butter, which explains why it’s so gentle on your hands, and marshmallow which I love! My hands feel so lovely and soft for hours afterwards.

The smell really is incredible, it’s like wearing a gorgeous perfume- it's very sweet, fruity and floral all at the same time! It's great value for money as it lasts ages, I strongly recommend buying this hand cream!

Blink Contact Eye Drops

I wear contact lenses most of the time (while I’m at work being the main exception) and after a few hours my eyes start to feel a little achey or dry. I bought these contact eye drops a few months ago and carry it with me in my handbag whenever I have my lenses in. When my eyes are feeling tired or sore, I put a few drops in each eye and it helps to sooth them and stop them from feeling so dry. It gives them a few more hours of life and prevents my eyes from aching as much.

If you wear contact lenses like me I’d definitely recommend you try these drops, they make a big difference when you’re wearing your contacts all day.

Does anyone else get achey eyes wearing contacts? Has anyone else tried contact lense drops or got any other recommendations?

Price: £5.49 (available at Boots).

Five Top Tips For Applying Eye Makeup

1. Use eyeshadow primer- always put this on before you put any eye makeup on, it will ensure that it stays in place, stops all creases and stays bright/ fresh all day.

2. For the eyelid: I put eyeliner on first (along the top lashes) and then eyeshadow on top, blend it in, and then finish with another thin coat of eyeliner over the top to make the lashes look thicker.

3. Kohl pencils are easier to blend than liquid eyeliner; easier to get the line right and to apply and easier to get off/ rectify if you make a mistake.

4. Apply kohl eyeliner underneath your top eye lid (underneath the lashes) to make the lashes look fuller and thicker.

5. Apply a light eyeshadow colour on your brow bone, and in the corner nearest your nose, with darker eye shadow at the other end, furthest away from your nose, and nearer the lashes.

Urban Decay Brow Styling Brush and Setting Gel

This is the best eyebrow gel I’ve ever tried! It completely locks my eyebrows in place; they don’t move all day. I love that it’s a brush-comb rather than others which are more like mascara-brushes (sorry I don’t know the technical term for them!). It ensures that my eyebrows are combed and neat before they set. It doesn’t go clumpy or leave any residue (some I’ve tried leave little white bits that look like dandruff on my eyebrows- Yuk!)

I’ve tried No. 7 and Benefit eyebrow gels in the past and this one is a million times better- I won’t be going back!

Price: £14 (and worth every penny!) (Available at Debenhams and House of Fraser)

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Tamarind for Oily/ Combination Skin

I’ve been using this cleanser for a few months now and can see a definite improvement in my skin. It has little balls in it which are slightly exfoliating, makes you feel really clean after it. Clarins say that these micro balls free trapped makeup and excess oils, unblocking your pores. It certainly makes my face feel like it’s had a deep clean, and really refreshed afterwards. Also, this cleanser doesn’t dry your skin out or make it feel tight like other oily/combination cleansers can do, it actually leaves my skin feeling nice and soft.

I’d highly recommend it for oily/ combination skin. It’s not too harsh but it really cleans your face and I have noticed I’ve got less spots using it. My skin doesn’t seem as oily as it was, but it has not become dry or dull either.

It’s best used in combination with the green toner (Clarins Toning Lotion for Combination/ Oily Skin) and the moisturiser (Clarins Hydra-Matte Lotion for Combination Skin). You only need to apply a pea-sized amount as it spreads over your face really easily as you lather it in, making this cleanser last absolutely ages- I’ve been using it for about 4 months and I’ve still got about a third of a bottle left, so it’s definitely worth the money!

Have you tried this cleanser? Have you tried any others for combination/oily skin that you can recommend or warn against?

Spa Break with the BFF: A Massage, a Manicure and a Good Old Catch Up

This week I took some time off work to go on a relaxing Spa break with my best friend Jo. We spent Monday having spa treatments, relaxing in the Jacuzzi and then eating a lovely meal  in the evening, and then spent Tuesday shopping in York.

The treatments we booked were a back and shoulders massage, and a manicure. I've never had a massage before, but I will definitely be getting one again in the near future! It was the most relaxing experience I've ever had, and it got rid of all the knots in my shoulders- lovely :) The manicure was ok- I've had better and will probably book the facial next time as it did just seem like she'd painted my nails (something I do all the time!). After the treatments we went to the jacuzzi and sat chatting for hours. Catching-up continued over a gorgeous meal from the 'Traditional Yorkshire' menu (I love a good pie!) and a glass of vino.

Shopping on Tuesday added to the girliness of the mini break- I love trying on lots of outfits and generally talking fashion! York is a really nice city; encompassing the perfect balance between the historical and picturesque Shambles and Roman walls, with all the modern shops and restaurants you could wish for!

Overall, an incredibly girly, relaxing and refreshing experience, one that I think every girl needs to go on with her BFF(s)/ sister/ mum at least once a year!

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact

The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick is the most amazing highlighter powder. The best I’ve ever had. It does feel like a real luxury item; it’s such a treat to put on!

It makes a big difference to your complexion when you wear it; it really brightens it up, making your face look fresh and glowing.

I apply it just above my blusher, at the top of my cheeks, and then a little bit on my cupids bow, down the centre of my nose (to make it look slimmer), and my brow bone to brighten up my face and give it a lift.

The product itself lasts absolutely ages, I’ve had one for about 9 months now, so you do get your money’s worth. I wouldn’t advise taking it out though, if you drop it on the floor the powder smashes straight away (sadly I know this from experience). It would make a really lovely present for someone as the colours will suit every skin tone, so it’s guaranteed to be a winner with everybody!

Price: £32 (Available at House of Fraser, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and some Debenhams).
