Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Foundation

This foundation is supposed to help fight spots as well as providing a good coverage for your face- sounds too good to be true? That’s probably because it is.

Due to the lack of any oils in it, it makes it quite hard to apply because it won’t spread easily. This results in some patches forming, providing an uneven coverage as it’s heavier in some places than others. Part of the problem is that it dries really fast, so you have to rub it in as quickly as possible; it does not blend very well.

I don’t think it wears very well throughout the day either. I definitely need to put powder over it as after a few hours the patches become more obvious. Furthermore, the colour match is not amazing on my skin- the sales assistant at Clinique tried three different shades on my face to get a good match to my skin tone (I bought the Ivory one), but it is still not an exact match. You can tell I’m wearing it and I have to apply it to my neck as well as I don’t want it to look obvious- again better blending would help solve this problem. This is quite a personal thing though, I’m sure other skin tones may match the colours really well.

On the positive, I think that it is great that it helps fight spots, and I haven’t had any spots come out when wearing this foundation, so it does feel good to put on as you feel like you are helping get rid of them. I would recommend it to people with oily skin or those that are prone to frequent breakouts or acne. The level of coverage is good in that it does cover up spots well.

However, it’s a bit too dry for me (my skin is oily/combination- so I think it is good for oily skin but not oily/combination), and I’d prefer a foundation that goes on smoother and blends in better.

Price: £23.00
