Monthly Favourites

My favourite products for December are...

Nars Laguna Bronzer
My face is looking quite pale at the moment and so my Nars Laguna bronzer has made a big difference. I use it under my cheek bones to contour my face, making them more defined. I then use a big brush to sweep it all over my face to create a healthy glow and colour. It lasts all day and is a product that I will repurchase and repurchase.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick
I love this highlighter. It's subtle but effective and so pretty; it feels like a little treat to put on. I've been loving it a lot this month because it softens my face after I've applied bronzer and blusher, making it look more naturally blended.

MAC Studio Fix Powder
As I've had a lot of long-days-into-nights this month with Christmas parties, this little powder compact has been brilliant for touch ups during the day. It's a good level of coverage so stops my eyes looking tired, my spots from being noticeable and my makeup looking fresh.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara
This is my second sample size Sumptuous Extreme mascara and I've slowly fallen in love with it. It makes my lashes look very long and full, it's a firm rival for Benefit's They're Real! in my book.

Urban Decay Naked Palette
This palette has been used a lot by me this month. Mainly due to the convenience of having so many gorgeous shades in one palette, but also because the shades are quite metallic/ shimmery so have been perfect for all those parties.

Lush Bubblegum Scrub
The cold weather has been brutal to my lips this month, making them very chapped and sore. This lip scrub has been a little life saver, getting rid of the chapped skin so that my lipsticks and glosses go on smoothly.

Clarins Instant Lip Perfector
As I mentioned, my lips have been very chapped and dry recently, and so this Clarins Lip Perfector has been great at keeping my lips moisturised while simultaneously providing a cute pink colour.

REN Clarifying Toner and REN ClearCalm3 Night Serum
Over the last two months I've had a complete skincare overhaul (post to follow soon about this). I've got rid of any harsh products that I was using to get rid of my spots as I was in a viscous circle of them irritating my skin and making the spots worse. Instead, I've switched to natural, gentle products and my skin is sooo much better! This REN toner and night serum have been great, and really made a difference in clearing up my skin.

Clarins Gentle Peeling Brightening Mask
Finally, this face mask is brilliant. It clears up all my blackheads and really brightens up my whole face. I've loved using it once or twice a week this month.

What do you think of these products? What are your favourites?

OOTD: Merry Christmas!

Jumper: Primark
Trousers: ASOS
Boots: Topshop

Merry Christmas everybody!! I hope you've all had a good one! I've had a lovely time relaxing and spending some quality time with my family. I've felt constantly full from lots of scrumptious food, and very content. I've had my Christmas jumper on from Primark and it's really added to the festive spirit. I teamed it with my leather trousers from ASOS which I'm practically living in at the moment! My little Topshop ankle boots finished off the outfit, again, shoes that I'm living in at the moment as they're so comfy and go with everything!

What has your Christmas been like? Anyone else rocking a Christmas jumper?

A Little Christmas Craft

I love being a bit creative. From painting to making little crafts, I really enjoy doing anything arty in my spare time. Pinterest is a great place to get inspiration for anything crafty, and that's exactly where I got the idea to make this little snowman. It's really simple to do, takes very little time, and all the materials can easily be found in your home already- my kind of craft!

So here's how to make your little snowman...

You will need:
1 White Sports Sock
1 Coloured Sock/ Scrap of Material
Rice
Elastic Bands
Pins
Scissors

Step One
Cut off the top, straight part of the white sock. Discard the foot end.

Step Two
Secure one end of the sock with an elastic band. Make sure it is very tight so no rice will fall out.

Step Three
Poor rice into the sock. Fill it as full as possible in order to make a nice shape and less creases when the elastic bands are tied.

Step Four
Secure the top with an elastic band. Then wrap another elastic band approximately two thirds up to create the head.

Step Five
Stick two pins in for eyes and one for a nose. You can get really creative and sew buttons on instead if you want! Finally, cut out a scrap of material and tie around the elastic band neck to make a scarf and cut the end off a sock to make a little hat. Et Voila! You have a cute little snowman!

What do you think of my little snowman? Are you making any little Christmas crafts or anything else arty this year? I'd love to hear about it if you are!

OOTN: Christmas Partying!

Dress: Zara
Belt: American Apparel
Shoes: New Look (here)

We're now at that time of year where the parties come thick and fast. In my opinion, you can't really go wrong with a nice dress on these occasions. A statement dress makes the outfit planning much easier, but it also makes me feel girly, pretty and smart- all feelings that you should feel when making an effort and when on a night out. Zara have some great statement pieces that are always well-cut and have a unique fashionable edge to them, it's well worth a look in there for your party wear. I chose to wear my new, chunky ankle boots to add a bit of a rock twist to such a pretty dress, and also for practical reasons as they're comfy and it was raining!

I wore this for my work's Christmas party last Friday, and I'm joined by my good friend Sam here just before the meal started. Sam wore a gorgeous pair of leather trousers and heels, teamed with a really cute jacket/cardigan from H&M- a stylish alternative for anyone who doesn't fancy wearing a dress. I had a great night, consisting of gorgeous food and wine, and, of course, lovely people.

A Festive Haul

Although most of my money is going into savings and on Christmas presents at the moment, I do think it is important to treat yourself at this time of year. Christmas is a time to make those you love feel special, and I thoroughly believe that a little love should be extended to yourself! Here are the items that I've bought myself for Christmas- hehe!

Beauty
Estee Lauder Daywear Oil-Free Moisturiser
This moisturiser is a real treat for my skin. The cucumber scent is so refreshing, my face simply drinks it up. It feels so hydrated (essential in this cold weather!) and looks clearer whenever I use this.

No 7 Brown Eyeliner
This is a repurchase as I've been wearing No 7 brown eyeliners during the day for years. However, at first glance they appear to have changed it slightly so I hope it's still as good as normal!

Bareminerals Bronzer
I've never tried anything from Bareminerals before but I've heard and read good things about their products. So, in need of a bronzer, I thought I'd give this one a go when I saw it at The Clothes Show last week.

Clothes
Primark Santa Fleece
As soon as I saw this fleece in Primark I had to have it. It's so cosy and cute, it'll be perfect for Christmas day, opening presents and lazing about the house. I can't wait!!!

Primark Christmas Jumper
Primark have a brilliant selection of Christmas jumpers this year! Always a bit of fun, they get everyone in the Christmas spirit and don't break the bank. I also picked up one for my other half so we can be festive together this week and next!

Glamorous Dress
This was a bit of a cheeky purchase when I was walking home from Uni one day! I love the colour and the style- it will definitely be worn for a night out this Christmas.

New Look Boots
These boots caught my eye online. I'm a huge fan of wedges as they give me much needed height and make my stumpy legs look longer and thinner, but are much comfier than heels. These ones were an absolute bargain from New Look and look great with everything!

Books
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
I've heard so much about this book over the last few months that I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. For anyone that's not read it yet, it's about a man who wakes up on his 5th wedding anniversary and his wife has disappeared and he has lost his memory. Sounds pretty intense and gripping to me!

House Rules by Jodi Piccoult
I've read one book by Jodi Piccoult and I was so gripped by it that I am now intrigued by her others. This one sounds fascinating. It's about a mother who's son has Asperger's and who has been charged with murder, and she needs to prove he's innocent.

What do you think about my purchases? What have you been buying?

Naturalmente Shampoo and Conditioner

Naturalmente is a newly launched Italian brand in the UK, offering hair products that are all naturally based. Their hair care range contains only vegetarian ingredients and are free from parabens or synthetic perfumes. Their shampoos and conditioners are more gentle on your hair, something which really appeals to me as I colour and straighten my hair quite a lot.

The shampoo smells herbally and very natural, not artificial or too sweet like others can do. It lathers up nicely, not excessively like artificial ones can do though, and I didn't need to use too much to get my whole head covered, meaning it will last a while and I'll get value for money. The conditioner also smells pleasant and natural, and this one is actually targeted for coloured hair, so treats it well. Using the shampoo and conditioner for the last few weeks has made my hair feel soft, clean but not too frizzy, and healthy. The dye in my hair has not faded either. Overall, my hair seems to be loving the Naturalmente range and I love the fact that their products are all natural and good for my hair.

Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara

Eye of Horus have created a range of eye makeup especially designed for sensitive eyes and fine, brittle lashes. Based on their research of Ancient Egyptians, they use natural oils and waxes in their products and ensure that they are all paraben-free, non-irritating, and nourishing. Their products sound ideal for anyone who has sensitive eyes.

I decided to try out the Goddess Mascara. It contains Moringa Oil, which conditions and strengthens lash structure, as well as assisting in lash growth. It is suitable for anyone with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers (that's me!) and contains vitamins A, B, C and E, as well as fatty acids and antioxidants. The mascara claims to 'accentuate and enhance the natural beauty of your lashes'. I really like that it is so gentle on your eyes and that it conditions and strengthens the lashes, as it feels like it is doing the lashes good while simultaneously looking good.

The wand really reminds me of Benefit's They're Real! mascara with the little spikes, which is one of my favourite mascaras. The Goddess Mascara doesn't clump to end of the wand like others can do, meaning that no lump of mascara ends up on your lashes, it is evenly spread. It separates my lashes really well and it's really easy to get to individual lashes. It is one of the easiest mascaras to use that I've tried. It curls the lashes nicely and adds thickness and volume. I would definitely recommend this mascara to anyone who has sensitive eyes.

Empties

This month was one of those months where EVERYTHING seemed to run out! Not ideal when all my money is going on Christmas shopping! Oh well, at least I have lots to talk about for this post...

Armani Micro-Fil Loose Powder in Porcelain
This is my second pot of this powder and I've already moved swiftly on to my third. It sets my makeup really well and leaves a gorgeous, translucent, subtle glow to my face. The quality is obvious when using it and I can't imagine ever using any other loose powder now, it's well worth the high price tag in my opinion.
Repurchase? Yes.

Nars Laguna Bronzer
This is a holy grail product for me. It adds a lovely, subtle tan to my face, making it look much nicer and healthier! Love, love, love it!!
Repurchase? Yes.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara
This has impressed me more and more as time has gone on. It really makes my lashes look thicker, bolder and more curled. Benefit's They're Real! may have a rival now!
Repurchase? Yes.

Clarins Delicious Self Tanning Cream
This fake tan is lovely. It contains cocoa butter, so gets a big plus for smelling nice before I've even put it on, and is very moisturising- great on my legs where my skin is dry due to shaving. As with all the Clarins fake tans I've tried, it is a very natural colour and produces no streaks (I always apply it with a mitt to make sure though). I would highly recommend Clarins fake tans to everyone, they are the best fake tans on the market in my opinion.
Repurchase? Yes.

Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay Cologne
This smells so fruity and fresh. I have the matching candle too- I absolutely adore it! The perfume is quite light so it's great to wear as an everyday scent. It's quite refreshing and I always receive compliments when I'm wearing it.
Repurchase? Yes.

Molton Brown Shower Gel in Templetree
I received this shower gel in the Selfridges Beauty Box which I purchased in the summer, and only got around to using it last month. I must admit I usually use quite cheap shower gels and so the texture and consistency of this took me by surprise. It's much thicker than cheaper shower gels and the smell stays on your skin for ages after you have washed it off and got out of the shower; it's almost like an extra perfume. I was so impressed with this, it really is worth the money and I would love to get a full size bottle now. The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the smell of this one (it's the blue one)- it smelt like Jean Paul Gaultier perfume- you know that almost sickly sweet smell? That kind of smell will obviously be popular with other people (especially if you like Jean Paul Gaultier) but it doesn't suit me, so I would prefer to have a more fruity scent next time.
Repurchase? Not this scent but definitely another Molton Brown shower gel.

Vaseline Spray and Go
This was brilliant to have during the summer months as it was refreshing and make moisturising my body easy and quick. However, it's too cold to be spraying yourself in liquid now (goosebumps galore I tell you!), and it's not moisturising enough now that my skin is becoming drier from the cold. Definitely a summer product for me.
Repurchase? Not right now but I may do next summer.

Soap and Glory Hand Food
This hand cream has lasted me absolutely ages. It smells amazing, and is very moisturising. It doesn't sting or irritate my hands at all (something I was concerned about it doing before I tried it because it is so scented). It isn't greasy either- I'm missing it already!
Repurchase? Yes.

What do you think about any of these products?

OOTN: Red Elegance

Dress: ASOS
Bag: Dune (Similar here)
Shoes: New Look (Similar here

Often, the simplest outfits can look the most elegant. This was the theory I was going for when attending a party last week. This deep red colour is perfect for this kind of year, and the bodycon style is always flattering. Lace is a lovely, sophisticated material and one of my favourites when it come to party dresses. As there was a big meal at the party I was heading to, I was grateful at how stretchy and comfy this dress was, and that the underlay made it very forgiving, hiding any lumps and bumps! The clutch bag also kept in with the minimalist style, as black suede oozes elegance and goes with everything- especially in winter. Finally, New Look do a fantastic range of heels at great prices; it's well worth a visit for the party season if you're on a bit of a budget like me!

What do you think? What outfits are you wearing for the party season?

Dr PawPaw Original Balm

I'd like to introduce you to a brand new product, just launched in the UK: The Dr PawPaw Multi-Purpose Soothing Balm. It is 100% British made and contains natural Pawpaw, aka Carica Papaya, which is heralded as a 'hero ingredient', due to it's many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It helps to repair, moisturise, soothe and smooth parched skin. The balm also contains olive oil and aloe vera, which combine to create a smooth, long lasting product. Sounds like the perfect winter essential to me!

The balm itself is quite similar to Vaseline, in that it has no scent or flavour. I love the squeezy tube as it's much more hygienic than sticking your finger in a Vaseline tub. It is also less sticky, greasy and thicker than Vaseline. As you can see from the list, there are a number of ways in which this balm can be used, a few of which I have tried...

It's great to use on your lips as it really moisturises them. They look and feel really soft after using this. Unlike Vaseline, it last ages- I'm talking hours- on your lips, so you really do feel the benefits. It's not sticky at all and it simply makes my lips look more attractive and soft, as well as adding a teeny bit of shine as you'd expect from a balm. A little bit goes a long way so it is great value for money in this respect. I also tried it on my hair: I put it on the ends after washing it, before blow drying it, like I would a hair oil. This made my hair very soft and seemingly moisturised but it did also make it greasy unfortunately. As a result of this, in the future I will only use it on my hair at night before washing it in the morning, or on lazy Sundays when I'm not leaving the house. Finally, I used it on my hands as a hand cream. It really moisturised them, they were so soft afterwards and the cracked skin almost healed. It is a little bit greasier than a standard hand cream but not as greasy as I thought it might be; it is fine to apply when you're sitting at a computer working.

Overall, I am really impressed with this balm. It is extremely moisturising and has provided lots of areas some much needed TLC in this cold winter weather.

What do you think?

La Senza Fashion Lock-In

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Fashion Bloggers' Lock In Event at La Senza and attended it with the lovely Victoria from inthefrow. I had a great night and even got my nails done by the nail technicians brought in from Topshop's Oxford Street store. There were plenty of mocktails and sweets provided while we walked around the store with a sale representative (all of which were very friendly, extremely helpful and knowledgeable). I was amazed at how many different ranges La Senza have. The Hello Sugar and Beyond Sexy bras made my boobs look huge, whereas the Body Kiss ones were incredibly comfy as the underwire was soft! Find out more about the different collections here. I came away with this gorgeous bra and knicker set from the Beyond Sexy range. It is very comfortable and the hot pink colour is stunning. I'm thinking of wearing it underneath my black jumpsuit for a night out so a sneaky peak of colour is on show.

Some little tips that I learnt about bras from the staff at La Senza:

1. The fasten at the back should sit very central, where your spine is.

2. The middle bit in between cups should be flat on the breast bone and the underwire should also be flat on your chest.

3. Your boobs shouldn't be falling out of the cups at all, they should cover the whole boob.

4. The edge of the underwire on the cup should be level with the armpit so that it is not resting on the breast tissue. If you wear a bra that does always sit on the breast tissue, it can eventually cause lumps.

I would definitely recommend that anyone and everyone go to La Senza and get measured for a bra fitting. The staff are all qualified fitters and you can really benefit from the knowledge and expertise. I will certainly be paying another visit and getting some more bras and PJs!
