Treatment Options For Acne Sufferers: Sk:n Clinics

I am very fortunate in that I have never had acne, but I know a lot of people that have/ do have it and I can understand how hard it must be. Products targeting acne can be very harsh and drying, often making the acne flare up more as the skin is so sensitive, turning into a viscous and painful circle. I am certainly no expert and have no experience in acne treatments, however, recently, I've been learning about some of alternative acne treatments offered by Sk:n Clinics*, and wanted to share them with anyone that may be considering their options.

Sk:n clinics employ experienced doctors and specialise in all the latest rejuvenation techniques and advanced laser treatments including Botox®, laser hair removal, skin peels and laser tattoo removal. They are the UK's leading clinics for acne treatments and have over 20 years experience in this area. Sk:n offers four acne treatments: Advanced Salicylic skin peel, Advanced Pyruvic skin peel, Isolaz® treatment and Isolaz® treatment & Peel (6 courses). The acne treatments are all safe and comfortable to use and take around 6 weeks to complete. If anyone is considering having any treatments, a consultation can be booked with directly Sk:n

So, for anyone that does suffer from acne, I hope this post was helpful in seeing the different options that are available for consideration.

Shoes Glorious Shoes!

Hi my name is Rosy and I'm a shoeaholic. There I admit I have a problem. Everyone has a product weakness, that one type of item that they can't resist buying more of. My mum's is handbags, one of my best friends is dresses, mine is most definitely shoes. This month I seem to have gone even more crazy than usual! With the (well-rehearsed) excuse of a holiday coming up, the shoes in the shops have been calling to me, so I thought I'd show you my naughty habit in all it's glory....

Primark White and Black Pumps
I fell in love with these kind of pumps last summer as they look great with dresses, shorts, skirts and trousers- everything really! They're comfy and never rub (a problem I have with other kinds of flat shoes like ballet pumps). I love how cool and casual they look, dressing down pretty dresses to make them more wearable during the day. These ones from Primark were an absolute BARGAIN at just £3 each! They also had them in navy so I may have to go back for them at some point!

Primark Sandals
No summer shoe haul would be complete without a pair of Primark sandals. They surpass themselves every year with their sandal offerings. There are so many different ones, all at such brilliant prices. These ones caught my eye as they are just so pretty!

Vagabond (via Asos) Black Leather Mules
Mules have recently come back into fashion and I've been flirting with the idea of getting pair for months now. I finally bit the bullet and moved this gorgeous Vagabond leather pair from my 'Save for Later' section to my basket on Asos when they had 25% off the other week. No regrets; they're so comfy!

New Look Black Heels
I think black heels can look a bit wintery in summer sometimes, but this pair brought the colour firmly into spring with these cute little cut-out petal shapes along the top. They are the one pair of heels that I'm taking away with me as they go with absolutely everything.

Miss Selfridge Black Pointed Heels
These black, pointed heels definitely win the award for 'most tried on pair of shoes in a shop by one person ever'. I first saw them in Miss Selfridge about two months ago and I've tried them on at least once a week every week since (I live in Manchester city centre which means it's dangerously- for my bank account anyway- easy for me to pop into the shops). I've ummed and ahhed about them for so long, thinking about which outfits I'd wear with them at home, and desperately trying to justify adding yet another pair of black heels to my ever-growing collection. They went on sale last week and I did a little dance! They had one pair left in my size so I grabbed  them quickly and skipped to the till!

Miss Selfridge Nude Heels
I've been searching for the perfect nude heels for a very long time, but I've never managed to find a pair that suits me. This nude has a kind on peachy-apricot tint to it (although it's not showing up amazingly on the photos) and looked much more flattering against my pale skin than other deeper nudes.

What do you think of my shoe purchases? Is anyone else a shoe queen/ addict?!

Five Essential Holiday Products

As well as the obvious Sun Cream, After Sun and Insect Repellent, there are a few products that I cannot go on holiday without. These are my five holiday essentials that I'm taking with me when I go away next week:

Tan Maximiser/ Extender
I like to have a tan extender with me while I'm on holiday, and for when I get home, as it's deeply moisturising and also (obviously!) makes my tan last longer. I use this as well as after sun to ensure that my body is very hydrated and moisturised after being exposed to the sun, and it really does make my tan go that little bit further.

Witch Hazel
This isn't the most glamorous of products but it is a little miracle worker. As well as being great for spots (my face always breaks out in the sun!), it's amazing to use on insect bites. I got bitten very badly five years ago and I tried about three different bite creams to make them go down and stop itching, none of which worked. My then-boyfriend's (now fiance eek!!) auntie suggested I put witch hazel on them and within the hour the bites had reduced in size and the itching was much less intense. After a couple of days of using the witch hazel the bites had gone completely! I'll never go away without it now.

Kiehls Ultra Light Daily UV Defence SPF50
I generally wear Factor 30 on my body but I like to have Factor 50 on my face because it's quite sensitive and always exposed. I prefer to fake the tan on my face to be honest (the Clarins Radiance Boost Glow Lotion is AMAZING for this and so natural-looking!) rather than risk sun burn, sun spots and wrinkles (and God forbid anything more serious). However, my skin is normal-combination and it breaks out so easily, it's ridiculously blemish-prone, so I hate putting normal suncream on as it's so greasy. This Kiehls Ultra Light Daily UV Defence SPF50 for the face is exactly what I've been searching for. It's oil-free and very lightweight so it shouldn't break me out and is suitable for all skin types. As well as being super light (and therefore great for also putting on under makeup) it has those all important UVA and UVB protectors.

Clarins Sun Care Oil Spray SPF30*
This Sun Care Oil Spray, a brand new product from Clarins, is the perfect all-rounder. It is a dry oil suitable for both the hair and the body, containing both nourishing plant extracts and protection from UV rays. It smells gorgeous (quite fruity) and I love that it is SPF30 as it will protect my skin, but it also helps it tan better by the fact that it's an oil. It's suitable for ALL skin types, from dry to oily, so again, breakouts should be reduced to a minimum. I LOVE that I can put this on my body and on my hair, as it means it's essentially two products in one. I would otherwise have bought a UV protector for my hair so that it doesn't dry out or get sun-damaged, which means I'm saving space and on that all-important weight limit in my suitcase! It's a brilliant multi-purpose product, providing protection, hydration and a better tan.

Clinique All About Eyes
The sun can be very harsh, especially around the thin and sensitive eye area. I always wear sunglasses, but I still like to make sure I have a good quality eye cream to apply every night and morning to prevent wrinkles and to keep them hydrated. All that squinting can't be good for the old wrinkles! Clinique All About Eyes has been my eye cream of choice for years now, and it's the one my mum still swears by. We both (that's me and my mum) get bad hayfever and this eye cream soothes and looks after our eyes better than any other eye creams have done, and never produces any milia (little white bumps) under the eyes.

What are your holiday essential products?

Nars Orgasm Blusher

Say hello to my favourite blusher: Nars Orgasm. Orgasm is a peachy pink shade that looks so natural on the skin. It really softens my face, adding a healthy touch of colour. It has a pretty, yet subtle, shimmer to it (not at all tacky or glittery!) which produces a gorgeous, summer glow. It's a colour that will suit anyone- honestly, all skin tones- as it can be built up to be a more dramatic pink or just lightly swept across the cheek for a barely-there but naturally beautiful look. On me, a little sweep goes a along way so it lasts absolutely ages, making me feel like I've definitely got my money's worth. I apply it to the apples of my cheeks and then lightly blend it outwards and upwards. It's very blendable and I often go without highlighter when using it because a soft shimmer is already provided.

If you haven't tried Nars Orgasm Blusher yet, I urge you to test it next time you're in Selfridges or Space NK. There's a reason why this is a cult beauty product, it's beautiful!

Price: £21.50

Does anyone else love Nars Orgasm Blusher? What are your favourite blushers?

Clothes and Shoes Haul

These are some of the clothes and shoes that I've been buying in the last few weeks... I didn't realise how many items I've got from Topshop until I put them altogether- loving their S/S14 range!

White jeans are the ultimate summer item. I really like the Topshop Leigh jeans but hadn't tried the Jamie jeans before, and so I've been very pleasantly surprised at how comfy they are! They contain elastane so are quite stretchy but, at the same time, are still firm enough to hold you in place! These white ones will look great teamed with any coloured top and heels this summer.

I love the jogger trend as I'm all about looking fashionable in the most comfy way possible (if it's not comfy I just won't buy it, no matter how "on-trend" it is!). I've been after a pair of smarter joggers to team with heels for the evening and these fitted the bill perfectly.

Topshop Denim Shorts
I love the colour of these shorts; they are a brighter blue than normal denim shorts. The style is flattering and they do not show your bum cheeks at all (something I hate!). Definitely a holiday staple.

Summer in England is quite unpredictable so a lightweight jumper is always good to have on hand, especially when the day turns to evening. A white one is still nice and summery and will go with everything.

Topshop Gingham Trousers
Gingham print is certainly enjoying its moment in the spotlight right now, and these trousers look really sophisticated as well as on-trend. They are 3/4 length so show a flattering bit of ankle, making your legs look longer in the process! They look fab teamed with a black/white top and a pair of killer heels.

H&M Chiffon and Mesh Detail T-Shirt
I like to keep my tops and jumpers fairly plain, then make a statement with my bottoms or shoes. That means I'm always on the lookout for interesting and nice, but plain, tops. This black t-shirt from H&M is exactly what I was after.

H&M Black Cami
Again, black camis are great for summer as they can be thrown together with anything, day or evening. I would never pay too much for a cami and I've that H&M's basic range is the best on the high street in terms of wide range/ colours, price and quality.

H&M White Cardigan
A white cardigan is a summer staple as it will go over any outfit. The cardys in H&M are really good; they have a wide range of colours and the quality is great for £10!

New Look Black Wedges
I am a huge fan of wedges as they're so much comfier and easier to walk in than heels. New Look always have a very fashionable and brilliantly priced shoe selection and they're not disappointing with their current collection!

Office Elastic Sandals
I struggle to find comfy sandals as I have quite wide feet but very skinny ankles. These elastic-strap ones from Office are perfect as they stretch to fit your size and don't rub at all as the strap is so soft- a first for me!

What do you think of my purchases? What have you been buying recently? Any shops you'd recommend me going in at the moment?

Clarins Lip Balm Crayons

Brand new for Summer 2014, Clarins have brought out a range of Lip Balm Crayons. I have two shades: 01 My Pink and 02 Creamy Pink (The one in the photo). My Pink is a flattering, personal and moisturising lip balm. The pigments react with the pH of your lips to create your own unique shade. It's the most natural colour you could ever hope for, and it makes my lips feel so soft and moisturised. 02 Creamy Pink is a very warm, deep pink that is the perfect summer shade. It will  look amazing with a tan and is a great day colour.

The Lip Balm Crayons are very hydrating as they contain shea butter. They add a nice shine to your lips, making them look much fuller and softer. They are not sticky at all and taste amazing (very similar to the Clarins Instant Light Perfectors, which I also love!). I've tried quite a few different lip crayons recently, and the Clarins ones are by far the most moisturising and hydrating out of all the ones I've tried. They make my lips look so smooth and they don't cling to any dry patches like others can do. These are now my go-to day lip products and will continue to be throughout the summer.

What do you think about these Lip Balm Crayons? Do you have any lip crayon recommendations?

Omni Jewellery

One of the modules that I teach at University is called The Business Project, in which I help advise students when setting up their own businesses. The students impress year after year and I've seen some truly awesome businesses be created. One of the businesses that set up this year is Omni Jewellery. Omni are a bohemian-inspired online jewellery store, and sell the coolest looking jewellery at amazing prices. I particularly love their rings. Two of my favourite pieces from their current collection are the Ana-Paula ring* and the Luna ring*, both of which are only £5 each!

So, if you're looking for boho jewellery at amazing prices and want to help support a new independant business, I would definitely recommend checking out Omni.

Favourite spring nail varnishes

Spring always inspires me to have a real pop of colour on my nails. I seem to alternate between bright shades and pastel shades, but both create a colourful and pretty look. These are five of my current favourite nail varnishes (in order of the swatches from left to right)....

No 7 Pink Grapefruit
This is a gorgeous, deep hot pink that really makes a statement. It's quite summery and reminds me of holidays. This shade has just been discontinued but Model's Own Raspberry Crush is really similar and the shade that I'll be replacing it with.

Rimmel Breakfast in Bed
This is a beautiful and very pale blue. You can't go wrong with pastels at this time of year and this one goes with everything; it's very easy to wear.

Rimmel New Romantic
This is my very favourite nail varnish at the moment and the one I chose to wear when taking pictures of my engagement ring. It's a girly but not too sickly-sweet pink and a lot of people thought I'd had my nails done professionally when wearing this.

Barry M Gelly Greenberry
This is an almost neon, deep mint green colour. It goes with everything and really enhances your tan if you have one.

No 7 Stand Back
This bright sky blue is very summery and, again, will look great with a tan in summer.

What do you think about these shades? What nail varnishes are you loving right now?

OOTD: Skinny Jeans and Crop Tops

Jacket: Topshop
Crop Top: Quiz
Jeans: Topshop Leigh Jeans
Shoes: H&M

The weather has finally started getting warmer so I dared to bare my tummy for the first time! I know it's very on trend, and I think the trend looks awesome on other people, but I still found it a little bit scary to wear for some reason! It's silly really as I'm actually more covered up than if I was wearing a short dress! Haha, on another note, I'm living in my Topshop Leigh jeans at the moment. This colour is perfect for spring/summer, it's so bright, different and it still goes with everything. Finally, these heeled  pumps from H&M are super comfy and make me feel a bit more sophisticated during the day.

What do you think about my outfit and about crop tops?
