FOTD: Long-Wearing Makeup and A Statement Lip

This is the makeup that I wore to a party recently. The party started around lunch time, so I needed my makeup to last a long time. I went for a strong black eyeliner but kept my eyeshadow and blusher fairly natural, to compliment the statement lip.

A/W Fashion Wish List

When the seasons change and all the new clothes come into the stores, it always makes me want to shop! I've spent a lot of time this weekend (window) shopping online and have bookmarked a lot of the products that I want. I decided it would be nice to show you what I'm liking at the moment, and so I made this wish list. It was only when I got the products altogether that I realised how carried away I'd got, so it's a rather long one haha!

Recipe: Special Egg Fried Rice

This is a great lunch as it's so simple to do and really tasty. This recipe is completely gluten free if you use Tamari Soy Sauce instead of the standard soy sauce that you buy. Hope you like it!

Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream

BB Creams, or Beauty Balm to give them their full title, aim to provide moisturisation, SPF protection and sheer coverage alongside healing properties. They are quite similar to tinted moisturisers but they are better as they have many added skin care benefits.

A Topshop Haul and the Manchester Arndale Big Student Night In

I went to the Manchester Arndale Big Student Night In a couple of weeks ago. It was a crazy evening, with a real party atmosphere! It was absolutely heaving, with most of the shops offering 20% student discount on all products. It was great to go and get those items I'd been eyeing up for a while but for a cheaper price! There were DJs and lots of different events going on around the Arndale and Market Street, it was fun, albeit a bit hectic at times!

I feel like the clothes I bought were very sensible/ grown up. I had a list of items that I wanted for Autumn/ Winter that could be worn with several outfits- investment pieces if you will. I spent most of the night in Topshop (the queue snaked all around the store!) and then just had time to quickly pop into River Island to get a lovely shirt. So, without further ado, here is what I bought....

OOTN: Little Red Dress

Blazer: Topshop (here)
Dress: WalG (here)
Shoes: New Look

"When in doubt, wear red" - Bill Blass.

This is one of my favourite quotes and is definitely my mantra when I can't decide what to wear. A little red dress is sexy, sophisticated and powerful, which is exactly how I want to feel for a night out. Red and black are a killer combo that go brilliantly together. I kept the outfit simple and minimal, letting this statement dress from WalG do all the talking.

Lauren's Way Medium Fake Tan

One thing I hate about winter is how pale I look. I always look healthier and prettier with a bit of tan- albeit out of a bottle! With this in mind, I tried the Lauren's Way Medium Self Tan Bronzing Lotion before I went to a party last weekend in the hope of improving my pastey legs!

My first reaction when squirting this out was of surprise as it is so dark! And, yes, I opted for the medium colour, the lightest one that they do! However, as it was an instant colour, I rubbed it in very fast and as evenly as I could. One advantage of the tan being so obvious is that it's easy to see where you've got and where you've missed, as well as eliminating any streaks.

The smell is lovely, not like other fake tans, but citrus based, which is a nice change. It dried really evenly, with no streaks whatsoever, I was really impressed. The bottle recommends waiting 8 hours for the colour to develop, and I'm glad that I paid attention because the colour looks much better after it develops than when you first apply it. I looked a lovely golden colour, really natural (as shown in the final photo of my arm). It seemed to just sink into my skin and I couldn't even tell I had it on except for the fact that I was a nicer colour than normal!

The next day, after I had showered, the tan did fade, but it faded very naturally, which continued over time. It didn't dry my skin out at all. I think the medium, despite how dark it looked at first, may actually be a little bit too light for my skin, as it lightened after it had developed. I would say this colour is more light than medium compared to other tans I've tried. I'd definitely recommend it for pale skin tones- don't be put off by the term 'medium' and by the initial colour out of the bottle. I think I will try the Dark colour if I want a tan to last a few days- I was just worried that it would be too dark for my skin tone but based on the medium I really don't think it would be.

I think this works best if you put it on in the morning, after your shower, when you're going out for the evening. It develops over time, and after about 8 hours it sinks into your skin; that dirty look that is there originally disappears and you're just a nice golden glow.

Overall, I'm really impressed with how even and natural this tan looks, and by the fact that it isn't drying or patchy when fading.

Price: £15.95* (available to buy here)

Has anyone else tried any Lauren's Way products? I've got the False Eyelashes to try too and they look lovely- review to follow soon!

Recipe: Kale And Pancetta Warm Rice Salad

This is kind of a cheat's recipe as it's rice from a packet, but it's meant to be a quick lunch so that's the point! It takes about 5 minutes to make so is perfect for a simple and healthy lunch at home.

(serves one)
Uncle Ben's Vegetable Rice (1/2 a pack)
Two very large handfuls of Kale
Half a packet of Pancetta
1 Onion
1 Clove of Garlic
1-2 tablespoons of Balsamic Vinegar
A Few Peppers (Antitpasti)
A Few Artichokes (Anitipasti)

1. Fry the pancetta on it's own in a pan. After a few minutes, when the pancetta is a light pink, add the onion and the garlic. Once they're are a nice golden colour, add a splash of balsamic vinegar and let it fry for 30 seconds. Take out of the pan and put onto the plate.

2. Add a splash of olive oil into the pan and put the kale in. The kale shrinks A LOT so be very generous with your handfuls. Cover the kale in salt and pepper and fry until crispy, then add to the plate.

3. Add the antipasti peppers and artichokes to the plate and toss them around to mix it altogether.

4. Microwave the rice and mix it onto the plate. Et voila!

Making Chocolate And The Rare London Opulence Collection

I had a great time at the Rare London AW14 Bloggers Event in Manchester with Victoria from inthefrow, Hannah from HannahLouiseF, Amy from SaltandChic and Frances from FrancesCassandra. Bloggers events are always lovely to attend and I've yet to meet a blogger I don't like- it's such a nice community that I love being part of :)

The Rare Event was a particularly fun one. It was really interesting learning about different types of chocolate and how to spot good quality by the fact that it all melts at the same time in your mouth (although keeping it still on your tongue to test that required a lot of will power!). We made a chocolate button (or star in my case) and some yummy truffles! I'd definitely recommend spending an evening like this if you're looking for something different to do, plus you get the added bonus of taking home and eating anything that you make!

The Rare London Opulence Collection is a higher end, premium line that is going to be released by the brand soon. The designs are very unique, daring, fashionable and good quality; they'll be absolutely perfect for the Christmas party season! I've got my eye on quite a few of their pieces already! What do you think about the items pictured? That feather dress...!

Nicole For Missguided

I loved the first Nicole collection for Missguided and I'm equally as impressed with the second collection. The 35 piece monochrome and crimson red collection is a directional take on the sports luxe and body-con trends of the moment. Featuring subtle sequin embellishments, bold cut away bodysuits and body skimming midis, Nicole x Missguided embodies utility street wear with a feminine edge.

It's a great collaboration, one that's sexy and simple, focusing on the feminine figure and it's natural curves. I think Nicole is just gorgeous, and the collection has her taste stamped all over it.

You can see the official video here and shop the collection here.

I've got my eye on the black co-ord set, the low-back black sequin dress, the X Cage Waist Bandeau Dress and the neoprene sweaters! So many lovely items, I'm currently narrowing down my shopping bag!

What do you think about the collection? Which items do you like from it?
