Lauren's Way Medium Fake Tan

One thing I hate about winter is how pale I look. I always look healthier and prettier with a bit of tan- albeit out of a bottle! With this in mind, I tried the Lauren's Way Medium Self Tan Bronzing Lotion before I went to a party last weekend in the hope of improving my pastey legs!

My first reaction when squirting this out was of surprise as it is so dark! And, yes, I opted for the medium colour, the lightest one that they do! However, as it was an instant colour, I rubbed it in very fast and as evenly as I could. One advantage of the tan being so obvious is that it's easy to see where you've got and where you've missed, as well as eliminating any streaks.

The smell is lovely, not like other fake tans, but citrus based, which is a nice change. It dried really evenly, with no streaks whatsoever, I was really impressed. The bottle recommends waiting 8 hours for the colour to develop, and I'm glad that I paid attention because the colour looks much better after it develops than when you first apply it. I looked a lovely golden colour, really natural (as shown in the final photo of my arm). It seemed to just sink into my skin and I couldn't even tell I had it on except for the fact that I was a nicer colour than normal!

The next day, after I had showered, the tan did fade, but it faded very naturally, which continued over time. It didn't dry my skin out at all. I think the medium, despite how dark it looked at first, may actually be a little bit too light for my skin, as it lightened after it had developed. I would say this colour is more light than medium compared to other tans I've tried. I'd definitely recommend it for pale skin tones- don't be put off by the term 'medium' and by the initial colour out of the bottle. I think I will try the Dark colour if I want a tan to last a few days- I was just worried that it would be too dark for my skin tone but based on the medium I really don't think it would be.

I think this works best if you put it on in the morning, after your shower, when you're going out for the evening. It develops over time, and after about 8 hours it sinks into your skin; that dirty look that is there originally disappears and you're just a nice golden glow.

Overall, I'm really impressed with how even and natural this tan looks, and by the fact that it isn't drying or patchy when fading.

  3. I'm really pale and I'm always looking to get a new tan just in case I need one for a night out! This looks good, and the colour is really natural and even, although it does scare me that the lightest colour is medium!!
