New Clarins Lip Products!

Clarins have done it again, they've been on fire in the lip products department these last couple of years!

This month Clarins released two new lipstick shades- a lovely, natural pink and a subtle yet statement red, as well as some new moisturising lip balms in a range of shades, for the barely-there makeup look. I've tried two of the Joli Rouge lipsticks before so I already knew that I would be a fan of the texture and consistency. They are very moisturising, which is very important to me, especially during these winter months where I get chapped lips. So, I was intrigued to try the new shades. The balms, I was also excited about as I like the lip gloss versions of these: the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors. So, after trying all these new products out over the last couple of weeks, here are my thoughts...

Clarins Joli Rouge Brilliant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipsticks

First to the lipsticks! There are two new shades out this Janurary: 22 Coral Dahlia and 23 Rose Petal (as shown left to right in the photos above)

Clarins Joli Rouge Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick in 23 Rose Petal:

Rose Petal is a gorgeous natural pink shade. I have been searching for my perfect pale pink lipstick for YEARS now, and I feel like I've tried so many that haven't been quite right, from Mac Cremecup to Topshop Saint, none have suited me that well. Not meaning to hype this one up too much, but honestly, I think I've finally found it!! Clarins's Rose Petal is just perfect for me! I think the colour really suits my skin tone, it goes on really smoothly and it can be built up by adding more or just left really natural. When I opened it and saw the colour, I thought it would be a bright and bold pink, but it looks so different on the lips. It's not too pale but not too deep, it's a nice balance in between and a colour that I think is hard to find- hence why I've been searching for it for so long! I love love love it and I will be purchasing this for years, it's set to become a holy grail makeup product for me :)

Clarins Joli Rouge Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick in 22 Coral Dahlia:

The second lipstick, Coral Dahlia, is very different to the first, it's a statement red that is not too over-the-top. Red lipstick is something that I think is quite tricky for me to get right. I think it's very important to find which shade of red suits you. I know, for instance, that warm reds don't suit me, but cool, blue toned reds do. This colour surprised me as coral makes it sound like it will be a bit more orangey, but it's definitely more red than either orange or coral. I would say that it is a cool red, and one that seems a little bit softer than other bold red lipsticks.

This is exactly what I'm after, as I always wear a medium-heavy amount of eye makeup so I worry that if the red lip is too strong it will just be too much; I don't want to look like a drag queen! Despite my smokey eye makeup however, I feel like this lipstick really complemented my makeup and finished off the look really well. I felt sexy and pretty, ready for an evening out! I really really like it, and I will definitely repurchase this one as well!

I realise that I've given these two lipsticks absolutely rave reviews, but I'm honestly over the moon with both of them and feel like I couldn't have found two more perfect shades for me! One for the day and one for the evening, both of which I think are worth the money (and they do last ages). They go on so smoothly, they feel very hydrating on the lips and they are a sheer finish (hence the name!) as opposed to a matte finish.

3 shades left to right: 01 Rose, 04 Orange, and 06 Rosewood

The Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors are the balm version of the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors, which are the hugely popular lip glosses that came out almost two years ago now (I reviewed them here). The Lip Balms are in stick form, so already a thumbs up from me (I hate pot lip balms where you have to stick your dirty fingers in), and they are shiny, but not too glossy like a lip gloss. They come in six shades, three of which I've tried (see the shade names above).

The balms contain wild mango butter, which moisturises and nourishes the lips, as well as shea butter, which adds further nourishment and protection, and a lovely, smooth finish. They smell and taste yummy and they sweep onto your lips really easily as they are so silky. They are quite sheer and just have a hint of colour, so are perfect for those days when you just want your lips to look natural. I would say they are not as pigmented as the lip glosses are. My favourite is 01 Rose, as it's like my natural lip colour but better.

Overall, I would say these are great for when your lips need some TLC but you still want them to look nice; they are very natural and moisturising.

  1. I love tinted lip balms for when I'm in a rush and want a quick slick of colour that I can reapply without needing a mirror, so these Instant Light versions look perfect. I'll definitely be picking up the rosewood and orange shades! Great review :)

  2. The coral colour is my favourite but to be honest I don't think I could pick. Clarins are becoming my favourite for make up especially after finding a winning foundation xxx
