Review: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum

I've always been quite wary of serums as they make my hair greasy and make me need to wash it more often. So, it's safe to say I wasn't expecting too much from this product, but, as I'm a huge Paul Mitchell fan, I was intrigued to see if this serum would actually work on my hair.

Well, I'm so glad that I tried it because the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum really surprised me! Not only did it not make my hair greasy, but it actually did exactly what it claimed it would do, and then some! It requires minimal effort; I only use one pump and simply rub it into the ends of my hair when it's wet, working upwards but not going directly into the roots.

The serum aims to smooth, condition and seal hair strands, penetrating deep into the hair to displace water to speed up drying and styling. Obviously I don't know how deep it penetrated my hair strands, but what I do know is that it made my hair feel very soft and conditioned. Seriously, I can't stop stroking it when I use this (which is now very regularly!). It smells amazing too, it's hard to say exactly what of, but it reminds me of candy apples!

Using this serum makes my hair much less frizzy, more sleek, and generally in much better condition. My hair has been very dry recently as a result of dying it and this has made the biggest difference! My hair still felt soft and was still straight the next day after having slept on it, which never happens!

I don't know how but it made my hair straighter as well, and looked like I'd spent time on it. It's perfect for me because I haven't got time to be styling and messing about with my hair during the week, but I still want it to look good. I am very low maintenance when it comes to hair products, so easy products that will make a big difference with minimal effort is exactly what I need.

Paul Mitchell is probably my favourite hair brand, and this Super Skinny Serum is definitely a winner in my eyes. Yes it's pricey, but you only use one pump after you've washed your hair, so it will last ages; when this bottle runs out I will repurchase it in a flash. I always prioritise my makeup over my hair and this product let's me get away with it somewhat!

  1. It has been many years since I used a Paul Mitchell product, I remember winning a competition to receive some of their then new products. I definitely need to give the brand another go x

  3. I've never tried anything by Paul Mitchell before but this sounds so good! I've been using a hair moisturiser by Lush, the ends of my hair get really dry in winter so it's perfect (and it smells good too) xx
