The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Collection

The Smoky Poppy Collection is a limited edition range just released by The Body Shop. It's all about sultry, seductive scents and bright colours. There is a full range of body products, along with two new shimmer cubes, some nail varnishes and lip and cheek crayons. I've been trying out one of the new shimmer cubes, one of the new lip and cheek crayons, and the new body lotion. Here are my thoughts...

Poppy Shimmer Cubes
The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes are already a cult product for the brand, and they have released two new limited edition ones for this range. Both of the new palettes contain even brighter colours than before for creating a real statement look. I went for the yellow and blue toned one, but they also have a pink and green one.

I used them dry, like a normal eye shadow, but you can also use them wet. I've owned several Body Shop Shimmer Cubes in the past and I've often wet my eye shadow brush beforehand and then applied the eyeshadow. It creates a strong, blendable shade and is almost like watercolour painting where you can really build up some gorgeous colours. I actually prefer using them wet as it makes them a bit different to my other eyeshadow palettes, and they are really long lasting.

I really like these new shades, although the yellow didn't suit me so isn't included in this look! I put the white shade in the inner corner and lightly swept it over my whole lid. Then I applied the dark shade to the outer corner and blended it to the middle, up to the crease. Then finally, I used the blue shade along my upper and lower lash lines (underneath black eyeliner for the lower lashes), with a faint sweep on the outer corner of my lid up to the crease. I really like the effect; the blue makes it a really different look, and it shows that just because you've got brown eyes doesn't mean you can't wear blue eyeshadow!

Lip and Cheek Velvet Stick
I really like shade 35, which is a mid-pink colour with a hint of coral (I'm wearing it in the photos above). It's a really nice pop of pink that's subtle and cute. It's perfect for during the day or for when you want to create a smokey eye look but still have a nice colour on your lips. It feels moisturising and doesn't dry your lips out, but also has a matte finish.

Smoky Poppy Body Lotion
This smells very different to the usual fruity and sweet body lotions that The Body Shop are famous for. It's much heavier and sexier but still not overpowering- you have to smell this guys! It would be perfect for a date night- especially Valentine's Day! I really like it, and it's nice to have a body lotion that is more suited for the evening as it makes it a little bit more special. As with all of the new Smoky Poppy Body Range, it contains extracts of oil-rich poppies and leaves your skin feeling really moisturised and soft.
Price: £8* (Buy here)

    1. Aw this would be perfect for you grandma if she loves poppies- what a nice surprise that would be for her! Thank you, I don't usually wear any blue eyeshadow so it fun to experiment! I'd recommend giving it a go but using it with or around your normal eyeliner for instance so that it's not too much of a bold step/ is more wearable :) I love the body shop too and also have a list haha! xxxx

  3. I wasn't sure about the fragrance when I first had a sniff but it's really grown on me and now I love it. The body lotion is definitely one of my favourite products from the range and I also really like the Eau de toilette x

    1. I know what you mean, when I first smelt the body lotion I was quite taken aback as I expected it to be really sweet/ floral! It's such a unique smell though isn't it?! I really like having something different in my collection :) xxxx
