Cutting Down On Alcohol And A Mocktail Recipe

A scrumptious mocktail recipe....

Over the last few years I've cut down on my alcohol intake considerably. When I was at university I used to drink quite a lot, regularly going out with friends. However, over the last four years I've made a conscious effort to be much healthier and fitter, which has resulted in me drinking alcohol much less. That's not to say I don't drink, I love to have a few glasses of prosecco when meeting up with friends etc, or a glass of wine with a meal, but it's changed now to one or two nights a week and is sometimes only the odd glass. I've stopped drinking on weekdays (unless there's a special occasion) and generally only drink when going out or when meeting up with friends or family. Since cutting back on alcohol, I've lost weight, my face isn't as puffy and I just generally feel so much better about myself. My skin is better and my body just feels cleaner and less sluggish somehow.

However, it's still nice to enjoy exciting and tasty drinks, so mocktails are the perfect option for a little treat, or for when me/someone else is driving. Appletiser is one of my favourite soft drinks, I always order it when I'm out and not drinking, and so I was thrilled when Appletiser sent me three different flavours to try out and make mocktails with. I've been having lots of fun making mixtures and experimenting! I would definitely recommend getting a few of these bottles in for when you have people round who aren't drinking, as they're the perfect soft drink alternative and prove that not drinking doesn't have to mean boring drinks.

One of the mocktails that I really like is the Pomegranate Refresher, and the recipe is below:

Recipe For the Pomegranate Refresher Mocktail:

For one mocktail:
50ml cranberry juice
25ml lime juice
100ml Apple & Pomegranate Appletiser
Ice cubes
Lime wedge to garnish

1.       Fill a cocktail shaker half way with ice cubes
2.       Add cranberry juice, lime juice and Apple & Pomegranate Appletiser into a cocktail shaker and shake for 10 seconds (or just stir it with a spoon if you do not have a cocktail shaker).
3.       Strain the mixture into a chilled Martini glass
4.       Garnish with a lime wedge

Let me know if you make this!
Also, if you have any other mocktail recipes please let me know :)
What do you think about mocktails and not drinking as much alcohol?
