An Outfit For A Wedding

After quite a lot of deliberation, this is the outfit that I decided to wear to a festival-style tipee wedding!...

My Outfit:
Fascinator: Debenhams (here)
Dress: Ted Baker (here or here)
Shoes: Miss Selfridge (here)

I went to the wedding of two very good friends last weekend so I thought I'd share my outfit with you. The wedding reception was in a tipee on a farm so it had a kind of relaxed, yet up-market, festival vibe. This shorter, floral dress fit that vibe perfectly. That's definitely something to think about when you are planning your outfit for a wedding; what kind of wedding is it? Where is it set? In a formal stately home, in a rustic barn or in a traditional church? Bear this in mind when choosing your dress, for practicality as well as style.

I love the cut of this dress, as it is very flattering around the waist. It's a skater style but the material is thicker, almost scuba-like, making it more of an occasion dress than an every day skater dress.  The length was perfect for the hot summer day that it was (in the middle of the UK heatwave!) so it was cool but also remained classy and not too short. I also love the print of this dress as it is not just your average floral number; the flowers are darker and more edgy. On a side note, I bought this dress a while ago and it's just gone into the sale this week (typical, just after I've worn it!) so it's selling out fast now. Check the links above to see if they still have your size in and if not, Ted Baker have some similar ones that I'd recommend checking out if you fancy a dress like this.

I also had the venue in mind when choosing my shoes. Knowing that I would be spending the majority of the day in a field, stilettos would not be ideal. I opted for a chunkier heel that did not sink into the grass. These shoes from Miss Selfridge were very comfy and complimented the dress really well with the contrast of black and white repeating itself. Finally, my fascinator dressed up the outfit even further, making it a bit more special. Debenhams have a great range of fascinators and hats if you're looking for one.

I had a fantastic time at the wedding so to anyone that is going to a similar wedding, you're in for a treat!

What do you think of my outfit?
Do you have any weddings coming up? If so, where are they set?
And what are you planning on wearing to any upcoming weddings?

P.S. I'll be doing another post all about what makeup I wore to this wedding soon, so watch this space!

  4. Ted Baker have some amazing pieces in at the moment and this dress is lovely. I hear what you're saying about wedding locations and themes these days. My friend had been thinking of a tree house wedding and I envisioned the ending of George of the Jungle rather than a fancy frock!
