OOTD: Denim Button Skirts and Black Loafers

A simple, casual outfit perfect for the changing seasons...

My Outfit:
Coat: Zara (buy similar here or here)
Top: Topshop (buy similar here, here or here)
Skirt: Topshop (buy here or similar here)
Necklace: Happiness Boutique* (buy here)
Shoes: Butterfly Twist* (buy here
Lipstick: Mac Fusion Pink (buy here)

Buttoned skirts are everywhere at the moment; from suede, to cord, to denim. What I particularly love about this denim one from Topshop, however, is the A-line shape and bright blue colour. A-line skirts flatter the waist and make your legs look longer so will look good on every shape and size.  Having the bright denim colour is a nod to the remainder of the summer, but the knitted jumper and chunky coat welcome the arrival of early autumn. I love throwing oversized coats over dainty, girly outfits for a bit of edge, and I like the contrast of the clean cream colour with the harsh black and statement blue here. By having everything plain, it all works together nicely and each item compliments one another without stealing the limelight.

I kept the details to a minimum in this outfit, letting a single necklace do all the talking against the plain black jumper. This rose gold necklace is from Happiness Boutique, which is a lovely little independent shop that I have just discovered. They sell some gorgeous statement jewellery, with free shipping on all items and a customer reward program to help the purse strings.

Finally, these Pony Skin loafers from Butterfly Twist are so cute! They are really comfy with padded soles, and are perfect for popping in your bag as they fold up really small. The fact that they fold up makes them ideal for me as I have a 20 minute walk to work, which I do in my trainers before changing when I get there. I don't really want to carry a heavy and bulky pair of shoes all the way there and all the way back so these have made my life much easier. One thing I would say about these  shoes though, is that they are slightly on the small side, so I'd recommend getting the size up or buying both sizes to try before sending one back.

What do you think of this outfit?
Is anyone else loving the buttoned skirt trend?
